Where Can I Get Help?

Option 1 – Parish Contact
Your Parish Priest may have some experience in treating individuals with scrupulosity.  Perhaps you may ask him if he knows any Priest who is familiar with scrupulosity after Confession, by phone, or by email. A draft email has been composed for you below:

Dear PASTOR’S NAME,

I am a parishioner at PARISH NAME.  Would you happen to know a Priest who is familiar with helping individuals overcome scrupulous tendencies?  Any leads you may provide will be helpful and much appreciated.

Thank You,
SENDER’S NAME

Option 2 – Diocese Contact (i.e. Spiritual Direction)
Perhaps your diocese will have contact information for a Priest or Spiritual Director who specializes in helping others with scrupulosity.  You may contact your diocese by phone or email.  A draft email has been composed for you below:

Dear CONTACT NAME,

Would you happen to know a Priest or Spiritual Director who is familiar with helping individuals overcome scrupulous tendencies?  Any help will be much appreciated.

Thank You,
SENDER’S NAME

Option 3 – Therapist Contact
The International OCD Foundation allows one to search for a Therapist at the following link: https://iocdf.org/find-help/

  1. Thankyou so much
I knew there was something not right with me all my life and only in the last few years
I found out it was prob ocd
but yesterday I found out about scrupulosity and see this is me!

Ive always kept it a secret coz I thought I was rather weird,
now I know I am not the only one!

  2. It is pure torture… I don’t know what to do I’m only 15 and won’t be able to get help from parents. I just want to live normal life like others.

    • Maybe there is a counsellor that you can see nearby. I think that will be the most helpful thing for you. Have you read any books on OCD? One of the most helpful books for me was Brain Lock. I will keep you in my prayers.
